Game 20: Three-Game Road Swing for @TAMUKWBB Begins At #7/6 Lady Buffs

Javelinas have dropped their past 11 games to West Texas A&M

KINGSVILLE, Texas – Three consecutive road games await the Texas A&M-Kingsville women's basketball team (0-19, 0-9 LSC) with the first contest coming Saturday afternoon. A 2 p.m. tipoff is scheduled in the First United Bank Center against No. 7/6 West Texas A&M (17-2, 8-1 LSC).

The Lady Buffs have dominated the all-time series with the Javelinas, 53-8, and have won 11 straight meetings. The last time that the Blue and Gold defeated WT was on Feb. 21, 2009 in Canyon, Texas by the score of 70-66.

After a 17-point performance on Wednesday, Micah Weaver increased her team-high scoring average to 11.1 ppg. Scoring 8.9 ppg for the year, Lauren Jay has seen her mark increase to 10.2 in Lone Star Conference games while leading the squad in rebounding (6.3).

Since conference play has begun, Ashley Viera is putting up 8.8 ppg and 2.3 rpg. She has also dished out a team-high 3.0 apg and is tied for third in the LSC with a 1.8 assist-to-turnover ratio.

The Lady Buffs are riding an eight-game winning streak after they lost their conference opener on the road back on Jan. 7 to Midwestern State. Their only other defeat this season came in the season opener to Texas-Permian Basin, which is their only setback at home this year, too. WT enters ranked seventh in the USA Today Coaches poll and sixth in the D2SIDA Media poll.

Chontiquah White paces WT in scoring (16.9) and rebounding (8.5) and is also second in both categories in the LSC. Entering with a double-digit scoring mark as well is Sasha Watson at 13.0 ppg. She also leads the conference with 4.2 apg.

From three-point range, Danielle Logan has made 35 treys and Madison McLain has nailed 33.

As a team, WT is scoring 78.9 ppg and they outscore their opponents by a LSC best 16.2 ppg. They're the only squad in the conference that has more assists than turnovers this season, 18.0 apg to 17.0 tpg. Defensively, the Lady Buffs force opposing squads in to 19.2 tpg with 11.2 being the result of a steal.

Live stats will be available for the game with a link on the women's basketball schedule page.
