KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's basketball team (0-22, 0-12 LSC) hosts their annual Play 4Kay game this Saturday at 6 p.m. in the Gil H. Steinke Physical Education Center-Kingsville Hampton Inn Court. The Javelinas will take on Tarleton State (13-8, 6-6 LSC) in one of the last two home games of the season.
Fans are encouraged to wear pink in their support against woman's cancer.
Micah Weaver continues to lead the Blue and Gold in scoring (11.0 ppg) and field goal percentage (44.6). She is second with a 76.7 free throw percentage and adds 4.0 rpg.
Lauren Jay enters the game with a team-high 6.4 rpg and 1.4 spg while contributing 8.9 ppg. Fellow frontcourt mate
Kyra Bauer is adding 4.5 and is coming off her second double-digit scoring game of the season. Both are the only players to start every game for the Javelinas.
The TexAnns have a slim 22-18 advantage in the all-time series but have won 10 straight. January 30, 2011 was the last time TAMUK defeated TSU with a final score of 63-62.
Pacing the visitor's offensively is Kathy Thomas with 13.8 ppg. She has also made a team-high 38 three-pointers and dished out 2.8 apg while adding 3.7 rpg and 1.6 spg.
Ikpeaku Iwobi is the only other TSU player in double-figures scoring (11.1). She is making a team best 87.0 percent from the charity stripe and is third in the Lone Star Conference with 8.5 rpg.
Three players have also made over 20 treys this season. Bailey Wipff has nailed 29, Raven McGrath has sunk 28 and Morgan Ashmore comes in with 26 made threes while mostly coming off the bench this season.
