AUSTIN, Texas (Women's Basketball) –
Senior forward Kyra Bauer came off the bench to score a career-high 22 points as Texas A&M University-Kingsville (4-1) defeated St. Edward's University (2-2), 68-61, on Tuesday evening at the Recreation and Convocation Center.

Bauer went 6-of-8 from the floor and a perfect 10-for-10 from the charity stripe in the victory as the Javelinas improved to 3-0 against South Central Regional opponents. The Hutto native added seven rebounds, three on the offensive glass, two assists and two steals. TaSheena Moore added 13 points, four assists and four rebounds and Joslyn Smith scored 10 pints off the bench. The Javelinas registered 11 steals and went 19-of-20 from the free throw line.

"I thought we played well tonight despite the shots not falling from three-point range," said second-year head coach Wade Scott. "Our team really battled and played hard from the opening tip to the final buzzer. They came together to rebound from the loss on Saturday. Kyra Bauer did a great job off the bench and brought a lot of energy to the floor on both ends, but overall, it was a great team effort."

Draining 54 percent of its shots in the first half, Texas A&M-Kingsville jumped out to a 32-27 lead after the second period. Twelve of Bauer's points came in the first half (6-of-7 shooting) and Lily Hospers added four rebounds. Kaylee Kana scored six points, pulled down three rebounds and swiped two passes in the opening 20 minutes.

All 10 of Bauer's second-half points came from the charity stripe and Smith added eight, while Moore and Kaylin Roher each poured in seven points.

A quick 5-0 run to begin the third quarter for the Hilltoppers knotted the game at 32 but Moore's jumper with 6:09 remaining in the period gave the Hogs a two-point lead. SEU and Texas A&M-Kingsville traded points back and forth with the Javelinas heading into the fourth with a 44-43 edge.

A close game ultimately went to the Javs after TAMUK was able to end a tie with a 7-0 run to take a 56-49 lead with 3:34 left. The free throws continued to fall for the Javelinas as Texas A&M-Kingsville improved to 4-1 with a 68-61 lead.

Texas A&M-Kingsville returns to Kingsville to host the University of Texas of the Permian Basin on Nov. 27 at 2 p.m.
