KINGSVILLE, Texas – In the team's first game of 2015, the Texas A&M-Kingsville women's basketball team (0-9) returns home for their final non-conference game of the season. They will host Our Lady of the Lake (9-3) at 1 p.m. in Gil H. Steinke Physical Education Center on Kingsville Hampton Inn Court.
The Javelinas, looking for their win of the year, are led by
Micah Weaver's 10.3 ppg. She is shooting 45.3 percent from the field while grabbing 5.6 rpg. Pacing the team with 6.1 rpg is
Lauren Jay, who along with
Michelle Wagner is averaging 8.3 ppg too.
Dishing out a team-high 2.7 apg is
Tessa Ramirez. Both she and
Ruby Robertson are getting 1.1 spg to pace the squad as well.
As a team, the Blue and Gold are scoring 53.2 ppg as they hit 34.4 percent of their shots including 25.4 percent from three-point range. They have a +0.5 rebounding margin a contest as they grab 39.7 rebounds.
The Saints are a NAIA program in San Antonio, Texas and are members of the Red River Athletic Conference. They have won seven of their last eight games that saw them score 100-plus points in four straight contests.
OLLU has three players averaging double-digits in points on a team that averages 93.3 a game. Courtney Bayliss enters with a team-high 18.3 ppg with a team-high 35 threes and 5.9 rpg. Both Sonji Green and Taylor Hamilton are scoring 12.7 ppg and have started all 12 games.
Green's 56.3 field goal percentage, 33 offensive boards and 10 rejections are the most on the squad while Hamilton is recording 2.2 spg. Both Rebecca Kolawole (20) and Victoria Turner (22) have at least 20 steals this season.
As a team, the Saints are making 41.1 percent from the field, 30.4 percent on shots from downtown and 71.2 percent at the charity stripe. They are retrieving 43.5 rpg but allow opponents to get 48.6 a contest. Of the 336 turnovers OLLU has forced this season, 193 have been the result of steals.
