NACOGDOCHES, Texas (Women's Basketball) – Keeping the game close in the first half, the Javelinas trailed by just one midway through the opening frame. However, the preseason Southland Conference favorites Stephen F. Austin University (4-3) dominated the second half en route to a 90-50 win over Texas A&M University-Kingsville (0-5) on Tuesday evening at the William R. Johnson Coliseum.

The game was an exhibition slate for the Hogs and a regular season contest for the Ladyjacks. Stephen F. Austin improved to 4-3 overall and 4-1 on its home floor.

Micah Weaver led all TAMUK players with 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting and Michelle Wagner finished with nine points, five rebounds and three assists.

The Javelinas hung with the preseason Southland Conference favorites early in the contest, but the Hogs went into the locker room trailing 43-32 despite Wagner's nine points and three rebounds in the opening frame. Trailing by one, 24-23, with 10:54 remaining, the Javelinas went scoreless in a four-minute span, allowing the Ladyjacks to go on a 10-0 run to take a double-digit lead. Ashley Viera dished out three first-half assists.

Three players reached double figures for SFA, led by Porsha Roberts' 31 points and eight boards. Roberts went an amazing 14-of-18 from the field and added three blocks.

The Javelinas head to San Antonio for a rematch against St. Mary's University (5-2) on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m.

The Rattlers seemed to right their ship after escaping Kingsville with a victory over the Javelinas, 80-71, last week as the No. 25 team nationally. Since then, St. Mary's defeated Colorado State-Pueblo, 51-43, and Lone Star Conference member Angelo State University, 67-62.
