Javelina Women’s Basketball To Open LSC Action At TWU & Commerce

KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville opens Lone Star Conference action Tuesday night at 7 p.m. when the Javelinas visit Texas Woman's at 7 p.m. They then visit A&M-Commerce on Wednesday before Saturday's conference home opener against Tarleton State.

The Javelinas enter conference play with a .500 record at 5-5. With five victories, Kingsville has already matched last season's win total as head coach Michael Trujillo continues to build up his program.

Transfers Lindsey Mahone and Rosalie Cutri made a major impact in the Javelinas 10 non-conference games. Mahone is amongst the league leaders in scoring with 13.8 points a game. Cutri is second in scoring with 11.6 points a contest. The duo leads the Javelinas in rebounding with 6.4 a game for Mahone and 5.1 for Cutri.

The newcomers have played a key role in the Javelinas defense leadings the LSC in steals. Kingsville is on pace to set a school record with 12.3 a game and is led by conference leader Cutri at 3.0. Mahone is third in the LSC with 2.4 a contest as Kingsville is 16th in NCAA Division II. Robertson is third on the team with 1.4 swipes.

TWU enters Tuesday's game with a 0-2 mark in LSC action and is 4-7 on the year. Rebekah Cluley leads the Pioneers with 11.2 points a game while Kenesha Saygo is second on the team with 10.1. The two teams split last season with Kingsville winning 59-49 in Denton behind 14 points by Ashley Viera.

Commerce is 1-1 in the league entering Wednesday's game, but 2-9 overall. They boast Breanna Harris who is one of the top players in the LSC. Harris averages a double-double with 16.8 points and 11.5 rebounds a game. Her point total is second in the LSC and she is tops in rebounds.
