Javelina Women Head To Midwestern State

KINGSVILLE, Texas – Fresh off of its come-from-behind win over Cameron, the Texas A&M-Kingsville women's basketball team heads to Midwestern State looking to build upon its success when it meets the Mustangs on Saturday at 4 p.m.

The Javelinas moved to 7-9 overall and 2-4 in the Lone Star Conference with a strong finish against Cameron. Down 48-42, Kingsville scored the game's final 18 points to snap a 3-game losing streak. The Javelinas scored 30 points off 29 turnovers by the Aggies and pulled down a season-high 21 offensive rebounds.

Ruby Robertson led a trio of Javelinas in double figures against Cameron with 14 points and added seven rebounds with five on the offensive glass. Sheana Jones added 13 points, while Rosalie Cutri had 12 points and five steals in her second game since December. Lindsey Mahone had eight rebounds.

Mahone leads the Javelinas in scoring and rebounding with 12.8 points a game and 6.7 rebounds. Ashley Viera and Rosalie Cutri are tied for second with 10.5 points a contest. Three players have at least 28 steals this season. Mahone leads the way with 36 in 16 games, while Cutri has 32 in just 11. Jones has 28 thefts.

The Mustangs enter the season with an 11-7 mark overall and are 3-4 in the Lone Star Conference after defeating Angelo State 67-63 on Wednesday. MSU is led by Andrea Carter who is in the top three in the LSC in scoring, rebounding and steals. The junior All-America forward is averaging 14.2 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.2 steals a contest.

Two other Midwestern players are scoring in double digits. Kirsti Degelia is averaging 10.9 points a game, while Dianna Jones is at 10.3 points per contest and is second in the LSC with 4.6 assists.
