Lankford's 38 Points Too Much for Javs

ABILENE, TEXAS – On Senior Day, Abilene Christian sophomore guard Mack Lankford scored 38 points to lead the home team past visiting Texas A&M-Kingsville, 79-64 on Sunday in Lone Star Conference women’s basketball action.

The Wildcats (11-13, 6-12) jumped out to an early 12-2 lead and never let the Javelinas (8-17, 7-12) draw closer than seven points the remainder of the game. Lankford came out on fire scoring 20 of ACU’s first 28 points in the game. She finished with 38 points on 11-of-23 shooting from the field, 4-of-10 from three-point range and 12-of-15 from the foul line. She added eight rebounds, five assists and five steals to lead the Wildcats.

The Javelinas shot 26.0 percent from the field, made 5-of-25 from three-point range and were 19-for-24 at the foul line. Amanda Haven (Calallen/Calallen HS) led the team with 16 points and grabbed four rebounds. Inekka Stevenson (Freeport/Brazosport HS) just missed a double-double with nine points, 15 rebounds and two blocks. Roslyn Robbins (Houston/LaMarque HS) came off the bench to score 12 points and grab five rebounds in just 14 minutes. The team pulled down 14 more rebounds than the Wildcats, but committed nine more turnovers.

The Wildcats shot 40.0 percent from the field, made 4-of-11 from three-point range and were 19-of-28 at the free throw line. In addition to Lankford, Renata Marquez posted a double-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and five steals. Cecilee Perez added 12 points, six assists and six steals. Overall, the team had 21 assists and 18 steals.

The Javelinas close out their regular season on Wednesday at home at 7 p.m. against Texas Woman’s.
