Javelinas Fall to Midwestern State in Second Conference Game

KINGSVILLE, Texas – Senior Kaitlyn Lowen earned her second double-double of the season, but it wasn’t enough as the Texas A&M-Kingsville women’s basketball team suffered its first conference loss to Midwestern State, 75-63, on Kingsville Hampton Inn Court Saturday.

The Mustangs (5-1, 1-1) took a lead from the start, holding a 17-point advantage in the second half. The Javelinas (3-2, 1-1) shot efficiently from the free-throw line, hitting 16 of the 21 shots. However, it didn’t help the Javelinas pull out a win during their second conference game of the year.

Lowen set her career and season-high scoring 15 points and had 10 rebounds to complete her second double-double of the season. Fellow senior guard Breanna Gonzalez led the Javelinas, scoring a career-high of 17 points, the most by a Javelina this season. All nine of the players who entered the game for the Javelinas scored during the game.

The Javelinas out-rebounded the Mustangs 38-31, 17 were offensive.

Kingsville will be back on the court next week, Dec. 5, when it faces Texas A&M International. Game time slated for 7 p.m. in Laredo.
