STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS – Very little went right for the Texas A&M-Kingsville women’s basketball team on Saturday afternoon as they lost 91-52 at Lone Star Conference South Division rival Tarleton State, 91-52.  (Box score)

The Javelinas (18-7, 6-4) fell behind early and never recovered. In the first half, they made only 4-of-24 shots from the field and 5-of-10 from the foul line. They also committed 12 turnovers that the TexAnns (21-5, 8-3) converted into 18 points. The Hogs committed 23 turnovers during the game and TSU scored 34 points off the miscues.

The TexAnns were led by Shelby Adamson who had 16 points, seven steals, four assists, three rebounds and two blocks. Morgan Stehling led the team with 18 points while Shedera Bowman came off the bench to add 10 points. TSU had 19 assists and 16 steals against only 12 turnovers. They shot 50 percent from the field, made 8-of-19 three-point attempts and were 17-for-27 at the foul line. They also grabbed seven more rebounds than the Javelinas.

The Hoggies shot 34.0 percent from the field for the game, made 7-fo-17 three-point tries and were 11-for-21 at the foul line. Felicia Soza (Beeville/A.C. Jones HS) led the team with 11 points and five rebounds.

With two games remaining in the regular season, the Javelinas are one game ahead of both Abilene Christian and Angelo State in the race of the LSC Playoffs that will be played in Bartlesville, OK. The Javelinas hold the tie-breaker over Angelo State while Abilene Christian holds the tie-breaker over the Javs.

The Javelinas are back in action on Wednesday night at 6 o’clock against West Texas A&M on Senior Night. The Hoggies are 12-0 at home this season and looking for their first perfect home record in school history.
