Stephenville --  The Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelina women's basketball team got off to a slow start and could never recover in falling to Tarleton State 60-43.  Click here for stats.

Dyana Bullinger and Felicia Soza (Beeville) each had nine points to lead A&M-Kingsville.

The loss dropped the Javelinas to 5-17 overall and 1-8 in the Lone Star Conference South Division while the TexAnns improved to 16-6 and 7-2.

A&M-Kingsville missed its first 11 shots from the floor and fell behind 13-0 to start the game.

By halftime the Javelinas were down 28-13 and made only 2 of 20 shots over the first 20 minutes.  A&M-Kingsville turned the ball over 15 times in the first half and the team's hottest player, Lana Toki, picked up three fouls in the first seven minutes of the game.

A&M-Kingsville played much improved basketball over the final 20 minutes, shooting just over 46 percent from the floor, but the halftime deficit was too much to make up.

Toki and LaKeisha Jones each had eight rebounds while sophomore Sandra Maldonado had seven rebounds.

The Javelinas played solid defense, holding the TexAnns to just 32 percent shooting, but A&M-Kingsville turned the ball over 27 times.

The Javelinas return home for the first time in two weeks when they host Midwestern State Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
