The loss broke the Javelinas two-game winning streak and dropped them to 5-10.  Texas A&M-Commerce won for the 18th time in its last 19 home games and improved to 12-6.
Senior Angela Trotter was the only Javelinas in double figures, posting her first double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
The first half doomed the Javelinas as they shot only 28 percent from the floor while the Lions hit 57 percent of their shots on the way to a 42-22 halftime lead.
It was a 3-point Lion lead, 16-13 with 11:14 left in the half, but Texas A&M-Commerce closed the half with a vengeance, outscoring the Javelinas 26-9.
"We were in the game at that point, but we started turning the ball and missing shots," said Javelina head coach Dina Kangas.  "It came down to making plays and we didn’t make plays.  We dug ourselves such a hole at halftime. They are a very tough team. They have five kids on their team that are Division I transfers and when they decided to play, they are pretty good. We knew it was going to be a tough game. They were physical and very aggressive."
Javelina leading scorer and rebounder Lana Toki injured her ankle in practice Friday and was limited to eight points and four rebounds in 22 minutes.
Texas A&M-Kingsville returns home Wednesday to take on Tarleton State.
