Williams pulled down a game-high nine rebounds in the 59-42 upset win over Lubbock Christian, added two steals and a block, and finished with eight points to snap the Lady Chaps’ 22-game conference winning streak. The defensive effort held LCU to a season-low 29.4% clip from the floor and a minuscule 14.3% rate from long range, while the 42 points allowed was the lowest output since January 2, 2010.
Williams added a career-high 11 points to go with four rebounds and two more steals in a 63-51 win over Eastern New Mexico as the Greyhounds were limited to a 36.7% clip from the flooring, including an 0-for-8 mark from the perimeter. On the weekend, TAMUK held its opponents to 46.5 points per game, the lowest of any LSC school during the first week of league play.
Williams’ LSC citation was the first of her career and first for the Javelinas in the 2021-22 season. The last member of the Blue and Gold to receive either honor was senior Anastacia Mickens (Beaumont, Texas) on December 14, 2020, when she was also named the LSC Defensive Player of the Week.
