Ter Morsche led the Javelina effort at the Contender CrossFit Islander Open at the HEB Tennis Center as she reached the championship round of the ‘F’ Singles Draw. She downed UTRGV’s Ana Platisa in the first round with a 6-2, 6-2 straight-set victory and followed up with a three-set win over Jordan Ortega-Mendez from host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the second round.

The Javelina grabbed the first set at 7-6 (7-5) before Ortega-Mendez took the second set at 6-3. The decisive set went in favor of ter Morsche as she clinched the super-tiebreaker at 10-6.

The final opponent for ter Morsche was North Texas’ Saki Oyama as the first set went in favor of the Mean Green, 6-2, before the two were locked in a 3-2 battle favoring Oyama in the second set that ended up going by the wayside as the weather moved in and shut down competition.
