Wilson gathered his first accolade after he was named the Lone Star Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in the contest against Western Oregon this past weekend. He registered TAMUK’s second special teams touchdown of the season when he scooped up a blocked field goal and sprinted 70 yards to the end zone for his first score as a Javelina.

Adding four tackles and a pass breakup, Wilson currently sits fourth on the team with 28 stops on defense. His recognition from the league office was the second of the season for the football program as classmate Donte Ross (Palmdale, Calif.) received the same honor after a performance that included a 48-yard punt return touchdown against Eastern New Mexico on September 28. This is the first time the Javelinas have had two student-athletes chosen by the LSC as Special Teams Player of the Week in the same season since 2013 when Matt Stoll and Anthony Washington were given the award in consecutive weeks.
