Rios, for the track and field program, posted a throw of 51m (164-04) in the discus at the J. Fred Duckett Twilight Invitational for an NCAA Provisional Qualifying distance.

On the year, he posted a career-best throw of 16.57m (54-4.50) in the shot put at the David Noble Relays on April 6 to finish fifth along with a season-best heave of 52.06m (170-10) at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational to take the third spot on the podium.

In the hammer throw, Rios hurled the implement 49.98m (164-0) at the Bobcat Invitational on March 28-30 for another season best.
