Cervantes tallied his first provo mark of the weekend in the discus on Friday as his first heave of 54.40m (178-6) locked up ninth place in the ‘A’ flight amongst top competitors from around the nation, both professionally and Division I.

The Sharyland H.S. product added a throw of 17.51m (57-5.50) in the shot put on Saturday off his second attempt to take 11th in the event. On the year, he is currently seventh on the NCAA Division II Descending Order list in shot put, and fourth in the discus.
