LONDON – Continuing his impressive summer run, former Texas A&M-Kingsville track and field national champion
Jeron Robinson (2013-16) helped lead team USA to the top spot at the 2018 Athletics World Cup held at Queen Elizabeth Stadium in London over the weekend after placing first in the high jump.
Robinson cleared the 2.30-meter mark (7-6.50) to take first, besting Yu Wang from team China for the gold medal, as team USA took home the Athletics World Cup title with 219 points.

"Every performance I want to jump 2.30 meters or above," said Robinson. "Every performance I'm looking for a new personal best. That's the all-around goal and I've been very consistent at [reaching] 2.30 this year.
"When it comes to the team, you don't want to let anybody down. So that's another thing that gave me motivation to come out here and jump because, as it's an individual sport, tonight wasn't all about me [and] it was about the team. I wanted to come out here and represent my country and that's what I did."
The Houston native needed only one attempt at 2.30m to take the title, a mark he first reached at the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships to set a new Division-II record in the event.
Robinson was crowned the outdoor high jump champion in three consecutive years from 2013 to 2015, only the third student-athlete in D-II to accomplish the feat. Cal State East Bay's Dave Haber was the first to achieve the mark from 1975-77 before Morehouse's Gregory Roberts matched it from 1996-98.
