Project Ex III

(03/02/12)

KINGSVILLE, TEXAS – For the second straight year the annual Javelina Spring Football Game will have the added feature of Project Ex. The game is slated to start at 7 p.m. on Thursday night at Javelina Stadium. The cost of admission to the game is $1 with all proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish foundation.

The 2012 Project Ex is former Javelina quarterback Oktay Basci. He will be given the opportunity to throw 10 passes against live action and another 10 in a target competition. Javelina fans can sponsor Basci to help raise money for the Football Locker Room Improvement Fund on a per completion basis. Contact David Brock at david.brock@tamuk.edu to get involved.

Basci played on four Lone Star Conference championship teams from 1994-97. He led the team in passing yards in each of his final three seasons and finished with 4,246 yards in his career. He tossed 40 touchdowns and completed 52 percent of his passes as he led the Javelinas to a 28-7 record over his final three seasons. He led the Hoggies to a national semifinal appearance as a sophomore and was part of a national runner-up squad as a freshman. He was named First Team all-LSC in 1995.

Tailgating will start at 5:30 p.m. in the North Parking Lot behind the Jav-A-Vision Scoreboard. Food and beverages will be provided. EXA 95.1 FM in McAllen, the “Voice of Javelina Athletics in the Rio Grande Valley,” will be doing a live remote and providing the musical entertainment at the tailgate.

Javelina fans can pledge a recommended $25 per live game completion, $10 per target completion or any set amount ($75, $150, $500, etc.). Please call David Brock at 361-593-2500 to get involved.
