BRADENTON, Fla. (Track and Field) – Kaina Martinez walked away from the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships as a three-time All-American on Saturday, May 27 at IMG Academy.
The Javelina women ended the meet with a total of 16 points thanks to a group performance in the 4x100-meter relay and a pair of top finishes from Martinez in the women's 100-meter and 200-meter dash.
In the first track event of the day, Martinez, LaGae Brigance, Keandria Taylor and Plaserae Johnson topped their preliminary performance and ran a time of 44.98 seconds for a third place finish and six points.
Martinez was responsible for the remaining ten points as she timed out in the 100-meter dash at 11.58 seconds for second place and ran the 200-meter dash in 24.10 seconds to place third.
On the men's side, Christian Garcia tossed the shot put 54' 10.25" (16.72m) for 13th place and Vitaly Zhgun finished 16th in the javelin throw after recording a 198' 4" (60.47m) mark.Â
