D. Scott Gines, Ed.D. announced Tuesday afternoon.
Gines stated, "on behalf of Javelina Nation, I want to praise Coach Dean for her tireless and fruitful recruiting efforts and her full commitment to the academic success of our student-athletes."
Dean compiled a 66-84-1 overall record (.440) in three seasons at Texas A&M-Kingsville (2015-17) and a 33-54-1 (.381) mark in Lone Star Conference games. The Javelinas completed a 27-24 campaign (14-14 LSC) April 29 and were one win away from an LSC playoff spot. Victoria Schoonard-Saborio and
Haley Boyett were named All-LSC first team with Boyett also collecting a golden glove.
Rachael Longoria and
Roxy Chapa, a 2016 Division II Conference Commissioner's Association All-American, appeared on the second team and
Breanna Smith was a third team pitcher. Chapa also represented the Hogs on the all-academic team. Yesterday, Schoonard-Saborio was named D2CCA second team all-region. Six players were named NFCA Academic All-Americans from 2015-17.
A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
