KINGSVILLE, Texas – Â
Cade Dyal tossed three touchdown passes and the Javelina defense amasses seven sacks as the Texas A&M University-Kingsville (2-4, 1-3 LSC) football team claimed its first Lone Star Conference victory of the season by dominating the West Texas A&M University (2-4, 1-3 LSC) Buffaloes, 37-9, on Saturday night at Javelina Stadium.Â
Â
The Hogs went wire-to-wire in the blowout win, led by a huge defensive effort that held the Buffalo offense to under 200 total yards and logged eight sacks. Linebacker
Peyton Tilley led the Javelinas with nine tackles, including five solos. Caleb Valentine added 2.5 tackles for a loss, and a six-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown.  Â
Â
On the offensive side, Dyal hooked up with three different receivers for touchdowns and completed 79 percent of his passes for 249 yards. The redshirt freshman finished with a 185.6 quarterback rating.
Jordan Thomas racked up 113 yards on six receptions with one touchdown, while
Nick Pelrean led all ballcarriers with 56 yards on 12 carries. Â
Â
First QuarterÂ
The Javelinas were suffocating defensively, holding the Buffs offense to just 26 total yards in the period. The offense got on the board by traveling 40 yards in 10 plays and capping the drive with a one-yard scoring throw from Dyal to
Stehly Reden.Â
Â
Second QuarterÂ
An eventful second stanza started with a 37-yard field goal by WT's Alex Schrag to cut the deficit to 7-3. On the ensuing drive, Kingsville moved the ball 75 yards in 7:16, capped off by a seven-yard toss from Dyal to
Torrey Thomas for a 14-3 lead. West Texas struck back with a four-play march that ended with a 20-yard TD strike from Justin Houghtaling to Kailan Noseff. The Buffaloes attempted a two-point conversion but failed, making the score 14-9. After a three-and-out by the Javelinas, the TAMUK defense added to the lead. A fumble by Houghtaling was plucked out of the air by Valentine, who took it in for a score from six yards out for a 21-9 edge that still stood at halftime.Â
Â
Third QuarterÂ
It was all Javelinas in the third quarter starting with a 39-yard field goal by Julio De La Garza. However, the highlight of the quarter was Dyal's third touchdown of the game when he found
Jordan Thomas for a 68-yard bomb, giving the Javelinas a commanding 30-9 lead.Â
Â
Fourth QuarterÂ
Marcus Younger added his first collegiate touchdown to pad the lead to 37-9, after being set up by a 24-yard completion to
Roe Posada.Â
 Â
The Javelinas will now look ahead to their game with UT Permian Basin on October 14 in Odessa, Texas at Ratliff Stadium. Â
