Every academic institution’s first responsibility is to give its students their best opportunity to graduate. Texas A&M University-Kingsville understands this responsibility very well and created the Athletic Compliance and Academic Advising Office for its student-athletes, to enable them to balance the time requirements for both academics and athletics with the ultimate goal of obtaining their degree.

The Athletic Compliance and Academic Advising Office is the liaison for the student-athlete to all services available to the student population as a whole, including but not limited to career counseling, the counseling and testing office, the registrar, financial aid, postgraduate scholarships and any other student services.

The office also provides tutoring, helps the student-athlete stay on track for graduation and NCAA eligibility and helps with career choices with the idea in mind that a college education can be more meaningful when a career goal is set.

Above and beyond the daily monitoring of the academic progress of all student-athletes, the Athletic Compliance and Academic Advising Office will provide and maintain an enhanced academic support system that includes tutors, progress reports and structured study sessions.

Although academic accountability ultimately belongs to the student-athlete, at TAMUK, academics is a team effort where administrators, coaches, faculty and peer educators all work in unison to maintain an environment where student-athletes are afforded the opportunity to excel. The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is very proud of its student-athletes and is committed, more than ever, to providing an environment conducive to academic excellence.
